From Griffiths Introduction to Electrodynamics: The infinitesimal displacement vector from $(x,y,z)$ to $(x+dx, y+dy, z+dz)$ is: $$ d\mathbf{l} = dx \hat{\mathbf{x}} + dy\hat{\mathbf{y}} + dz\hat{\mathbf{z}} $$ Questions 1. Can I interpret all the d's like this: $dx = \lim_{\Delta x \rightarrow 0} \Delta x$ 1. Is it required that the 3 infinitesimals on the RHS are 'coordinated'? ie $dx=dy=dx$?
