$e_{n}$ = number of n digit sequence ending in 4
Then $a_{n}$ = $b_{n-1}$
$b_{n}$ = $a_{n-1} + c_{n-1}$
$c_{n}$ = $b_{n-1} + d_{n-1}$
$d_{n}$ = $c_{n-1} + e_{n-1}$
$e_{n}$ = $d_{n-1}$
